Puerto Vallarta es la segunda SEDE del evento deportivo y cultural más importante del mundo en la comunidad LGBTQ+ se realizará por primera vez en tierras Jaliscienses.
La justa deportiva de la diversidad sexual fue propuesta en 1980 por Tom Waddell, quien fue un decatleta estadounidense que participó en los Juegos Olímpicos. El evento tiene en sus principales objetivos: una participación universal sin importar sexos, orientación sexual socialmente establecida, la religión o la nacionalidad.

La primera vez que se realizaron los Juegos creados por Waddell fue en 1982 en San Francisco y recibieron a atletas de poco más de 100 países. Este evento deportivo es similar a los Juegos Olímpicos, pero los y las atletas se sienten más libres de poder tener un espacio para la comunidad LGBT. Los deportes en los que podían representar a su país eran: basketball, physique, levantamiento de pesas, fútbol, softbol, tenis, atletismo, voleibol, luchabillar, bolos, bicicleta, buceo, golf, maratón.
The purpose of the Federation of Gay Games is to promote and increase the self-respect of lesbians and gay men in the world and generate respect and understanding of the non-gay world, mainly through the organization of an international athletic and cultural event open to participation and held every four years, commonly known as the Gay Games.
